Gun Safe Mom Interactive Workshop

Traverse City Presbyterian Church

701 Westminster Road

Traverse City, MIĀ  49686

Do you have a personal family policy about firearms safety for your children? Do you address the issue of firearms safety at home and in all areas where your kids play? Do you struggle with why people even keep firearms in the home to begin with? How can we easily converse about this “taboo” safety topic with our friends and family in the interest of our kids’ safety?

Each year, thousands of children are injured or killed because they are in a home where they have (or a friend has) access to firearms. No matter which side of the gun control issue you come from politically, this interactive workshop aims to help parents (and grandparents as well as medical professionals, teachers, and caregivers) keep firearms out of the hands of children and vulnerable young adults via open, respectful, and preventative conversation.

Learn about the Gun Safe Mom mantra and philosophy for approaching this foreign and often avoided topic in parental conversation. You are guaranteed to leave with new skills, a family firearm policy that suits your values, and conversational strategies to keep your child safe. You will also gain confidence in your ability to broach this sometimes sensitive topic across a span of greatly varied perspectives.
